Oh yea! I managed to download finish the first episode of Izumo! *starts doing some victory jig* Alright... I'm a little hyper. I apologise for that. Somehow, I think Izumo has a real big effect on me. Ever since I saw that innocent looking picture, I've been really into that show. Just watched finished it and I find it nice. Of course... Not many people watch it for some reason. And a side-note, my sub-titles were in Chinese. Still, the show has nice graphics and plot. At least, that's my impression on the first episode. Right, lets get down to business. Here is my review for Izumo.
The starting shows a short scene of a fight during a storm. Actually, it isn't that appealing so I guess that is why people didn't watch it. It doesn't leave a good first impression. On the other hand, like I said before, the graphics is good. Real good. Plus the sound effect, this really brings the scene to life. For the description of the fight, it is mostly focused on one guy. I still don't really know the names of the characters yet... (Couldn't hear their names...) but I think it should be one of the main guy characters. A short summary of this fight would be the guy, fighting some soldiers. And you can see monsters around. I'm not sure who's on who's side but the idea is roughly there. Oh and the way the guy fights? Basically, its all about swords. Though the soldiers or monsters used arrows.
The OP then starts... I kind of hate that song... Its not nice. but then, I wasn't listening also. So... I'll skip this part.
Now the show truly starts. There's this guy lying on the bed. Sleeping. You guessed it. He's our main character, Yaki Takeru. As all normal anime would go, the average guy getting wake up by his kawaii looking sister, called Kotono-chan. Another girl pops in and adds effect. Give credit to our little Asuka-chan who finally manages to get Takeru out of bed.
Breakfast is served. A screen on Miso soup! Okay... that was random. Takeru starts narrating about his life. He's actually lost both of his parents and was taken in by this old guy called Tomakeru Aruji. He calls him Grandfather rather then Father. Then those two two sister. Kotono-chan is called Shiratori Kotono and Asuka... Well, Shiratori Asuka.
They go to school. Asuka-chan apparently is closed with Takeru cause she called him Onii-chan. However, she also calls the other main lead, Takeshi-onii chan so everyone is really really close. They met with Takeshi and stepped into school. Oh yea... I forgot to mention, Takeru's "father" runs a kendo dojo. Both Takeru and Takeshi is part of the dojo.
Well, our main leads are in third year. The teacher starts by introducing a new transfer student. (Ahaha... This basically seems to happen in every anime I watch.) She just came back from America but apparently, she knows Takeru because she jumped, literally, onto him. When Takeru says he doesn't remember her, typical of all anime girls, she hit him back. And he still doesn't remember anything after she tried to knock some sense into him. I like her. She's called Ausu Seri. GO! Seri-chan! Takeru finally remembers her from ten years ago.
The rest on is about the kendo country representation. Or rather, between Takeru and Takeshi. That old geezer is going to choose a representative from his dojo. Between Takeru and Takeshi, there can only be one. He chose Takeru but Takeshi isn't pleased. So they decided on a fight. Of course... the result is predictable. Takeru won Takeshi for the first time. He also won the right to participate of course... Takeshi just doesn't accept the fact.
He gets consoled by Kotono-chan but she keeps on talking about Takeru. That really pissed Takeshi off. He slams her on to the wall. Takeru appeared at the right time (Hero saving maiden... If I didn't roughly know the plot, I'm going to be seriously fed up with this show... Its no wonder no one watch it. Ah... I'm supposed to give positive remarks.) A little tussle followed but when both of them touched each other, everything... goes... shaky.
Long scene about the earthquake stuff then they disappeared in a spell. The ED plays and its much nicer than the OP. Much Much nicer. They showed the next preview... and... I haven't finish downloading so you can wait.
Graphics: 9/10 I think it is CG so that is why it looks nice
Sound Effect: 7/10 Rather average. Compared to most anime, it is roughly the same
Plot: 6/10 Like I said, the first episode doesn't leave much impression. And most of the plot is way too predictable. I would say skip the first episode if you intend to watch this. You won't miss much after all.
OP: 5/10 I'm giving it only a pass cause I hate it. Well... I'm not into listening it right now. Maybe when I listen to it after a while, I might like it.
ED: 7/10 I like this. Its soothing and the MV fits it. I personally recommend this song. For now.
Character uniform: 7/10 Seriously, I can't really judge it now. Its only kendo uniform and their school uniform. Plus Takeru in pyjamas. I don't think you can judge on those... But the school uniform for the girls are drawn well. Clean cut. Not too revealing and on. Oh yes... I should probably mention this. It seems like this anime is from a hentai OAV comes clean.
Character design: 7/10 The graphics is real good. Except for the short funny scene where Seri-chan smashed her fist into Takeru. That was the only manga kind of drawing. The rest is rather good.
Characters: 6/10 From what I see of the first episode, the teleportation transports at least... Takeru, Takeshi, Seri-chan, Kotono-chan and Asuka-chan. There's this other girl who talked to Takeru during sometime. I accidentally left that out... My mistake. She's the classchair. And she knows about something... From what I see, all those girls have an equal amount of screen time, except the class chair. So this probably means that there is no main. The group is the MAIN.
This ends my review. I'll probably say something about the episodes later on but I doubt I'll continue to make a full episode review. It takes a lot of time. Some guy who is with his rival and three other childhood friends get teleported away. The plot... is well... bad. Alright, I'm not going to say much more. Just had this intuition to write this. There is supposed to be pictures... but the uploading system isn't working on me.
